The new code will reconsider the criminal punishment of journalists, the Department Chief of the Azerbaijani Presidential Apparat Fuad Aleskerov told on October 30, Trend reports.
Commenting on the statements of the international organization regarding the necessity of decriminalization of the responsibility of journalists, Aleskerov stressed that in many countries, the slander and insulting are followed as criminal and administrative responsibility.
In addition, he underlined that a working group has been created in co-operation with the Council of Europe, which will work on a new criminal code, and the responsibility of journalists may also be reconsidered within this process.
