Mass Demonstration to be Held in Brussels on Anniversary of Azerbaijani Territories' Occupation

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The State Committee for Work with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad, reported that a demonstration dedicated to the anniversary of occupation of Azerbaijani land by Armenia will be held in the capital of Brussels.

The demonstration which will be held in Shuman avenue will be organized by the Co-ordination Council of the Azerbaijani Organizations in Benelux and Belgian-Azerbaijan Committee. The organizations will submit an official statement to the European Parliament and European Commission.

The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasus appeared in 1988 due to the territorial claims of Armenia against Azerbaijan. Armenia has occupied 20% of the Azerbaijani lands including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven Districts of the country surrounding it. Since 1992 to the present time, these territories have been under the occupation of the Armenian Forces. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a cease-fire agreement at which time the active hostilities ended. The Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France and USA) is holding peaceful negotiations.
