Azerbaijan applying state-of-art sowing, harvesting technologies (Exclusive)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6

By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

Advanced technologies of sowing and harvesting are being applied in a number of areas of agriculture in Azerbaijan, Director of the Center for Agrarian Science and Innovation under the Ministry of Agriculture Akbar Abbasov said in an interview with Trend.

According to Abbasov, for effective sowing through the advanced technologies, the center can determine the most suitable territory and land plot.

“To identify such a plot, we have an appropriate laboratory, where, based on the analysis, we can determine the effectiveness and suitability of the land for sowing. We also have mobile laboratories in most districts of Azerbaijan,” he noted. “In the next step, through innovation, we prepare the seeds for sowing. Nowadays, as in many other industries, capsules are used when sowing cotton.”

“After certain innovative procedures, the seeds are placed in a capsule, which further provides the best yield, moisture, pest protection and a number of other benefits. Then the seeds in capsules are planted using modern technology and in accordance with international standards,” the director further said.

“To serve the future harvest, we use the state-of-art methods and technologies. Today we use technologies that perform up to five tasks, which reduces the time and the likelihood of damage to the land," Abbasov added.

Besides, according to him, monitoring of the harvest is carried out by means of unmanned aerial vehicles.

“These drones, equipped with artificial intelligence and know-how, through multispectral cameras collect all the necessary information about plants, land and transmit it to the data centers,” he also noted. “This data allows us to establish with an accuracy of 100 percent, in which area and what type of plants are damaged, whether watering and other procedures are required, " said the director of the center.”

"Our combines, equipped with innovative technologies, perform several operations simultaneously: harvest, separate seeds and perform a number of other actions in accordance with the type of plant," Abbasov said.

He concluded that modern technologies, innovations and know-how are applied not only in the field of crop production, but also in the field of animal husbandry.
