Türkiye reveals volume of chemical products transshipment by local ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. A total of 11.4 million tons of chemical products were transshipped through the ports of Türkiye from January through August 2022, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, 831,374 tons of the cargo were delivered to Turkish ports under the flag of Türkiye, and 10 million tons by ships under the flags of other countries.

From January through August 2022, 178,308 tons of chemical products were transported in transit through the ports of Türkiye.

In the reporting period, Turkish ports handled 264.6 million tons of transit cargo from India, the ministry added.

Ships under the flag of Türkiye transported 18.9 million tons of chemical products through local ports and ships under the flags of other countries – 245.6 million tons during this period.

Turkish ports totally transshipped over 54 million tons of cargo from January through August 2022.

Turkish ports handled 386.3 million tons of cargo in 2021

In the reporting period, ships under the flag of other countries transported 29.9 million tons of cargo to Turkish ports.

Cargo transportation to Turkish ports by ships under the flags of other countries amounted to 356.3 million tons.

In addition, Turkish ports carried 78 million tons of transit cargo last year.
