BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. The El Musel liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal of Enagás in Spain's Gijón has received Endesa's first ship, the 180,000 cubic meters capacity ‘Gaslog Warsaw’, after carrying out the necessary final technical tests before the commercial commissioning of the plant, Trend reports.

As the company reported, on July 31st, Endesa started its activity as the contracting company for the logistics services of the terminal, after the successful completion of the capacity allocation process, carried out by Enagás. This process gathered a lot of interest among the marketing companies with 13 offers during its binding phase.

The logistics services offered for this infrastructure are LNG unloading, storage and loading operations. Within the regulated access regime, the Musel contemplates a minimum regasification for the correct management of the terminal, as well as the tanker loading service.

The terminal received two ships during the month of July as a necessary preliminary step from the technical point of view before the commercial commissioning of the terminal: the ‘Cool Racer’, with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, and the ‘Dorado LNG’, of equal capacity.

Along with all this, the marketer Endesa Energía will guarantee the necessary supply for the optimal operation of the terminal and the tank loading and injection services to the transport network.

The Gijón plant will be able to contribute up to 8 bcm of LNG capacity per year to the security of European energy supply. It will allow the docking of ships between 50,000 and 266,000 cubic meters, has two 150,000 cubic meters LNG storage capacity tanks, two tank loaders with capacity to load a maximum of 9 GWh/d and a maximum emission capacity of 800,000 Nm3/h.

This will make it possible to take advantage of synergies and work together on the services offered by the plant and on new collaboration possibilities to strengthen supply security and advance the decarbonization objectives of Spain and Europe.
