BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 27. The value of food products imported by Azerbaijan decreased by 2.84 percent ($52.29 million) to $1.78 billion from January through October 2023, Trend reports.
The data from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan showed that in the reporting period, the country imported 34,860 tons of meat (up by 3.12 percent) worth $69.99 million (an increase of 11.8 percent), 10,350 tons of milk (a growth of 23.85 percent) worth $20.58 million (an increase of 36.49 percent).
The country also imported 13,200 tons of dairy products (a decline of 14.78 percent) - $73.65 million (a decrease of 17.62 percent), 274,050 tons of vegetables and fruits (a decrease of 10.27 percent) - $177.89 million (a decline of 4.53 percent), 11, 220 tons of tea (a decline of 5.93 percent) worth more than $58.4 million (a decrease of 4.95 percent).
In addition, Azerbaijan also imported more than 1.06 million tons of wheat, corn, and rice worth over $309.8 million.
The import of vegetable fats and oils amounted to 126,468 tons, worth more than $158.08 million.
Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover decreased by six percent, or $2.77 billion (from $46.3 billion to $ 43.5 billion) from January through October 2023 year-on-year.
Exports amounted to $29.3 billion in the structure of foreign trade turnover, which is $5.4 billion (15.46 percent) less than the same period last year. The share of exports in foreign trade turnover was 67.43 percent against 74.97 percent a year earlier.
Azerbaijan's imports in the reporting period increased by $2.58 billion (22.32 percent), year-on-year from $11.58 billion to about $14.17 billion.
The share of imports in foreign trade turnover amounted to 32.57 percent against 25.03 percent a year earlier.
As a result, during the reporting period, the balance of foreign trade turnover, remaining positive, decreased year-on-year by more than $7.9 billion, or 34.39 percent - to $15.17 billion against $23.1 billion in the reporting period of 2022.
