BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. A joint work within COP29 has been discussed during a meeting of the country's Prime Minister Ali Asadov with a delegation led by Ines Rocha, Regional Director for Europe of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Trend reports.

The meeting emphasized a long-term efficient partnership between Azerbaijan and the World Bank (WB), and structures of the WB Group have been discussed.

The importance of the World Bank Country Partnership Framework with Azerbaijan was noted, and views were exchanged on the preparation of a new partnership document to run from 2025 through 2029.

Satisfaction was expressed with the current level of cooperation between the country and the International Finance Corporation and the results of joint projects implemented in various fields.

The meeting also discussed opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including public-private partnerships, attracting foreign investment, and other relevant areas.

This November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. This decision was made at the COP28 plenary meeting held in Dubai on December 11 last year. Baku will become the center of the world and will receive about 70–80,000 foreign guests.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. COP—the Conference of the Parties—is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. There are 198 countries that are parties to the Convention. Unless the parties agree otherwise, the COP is held annually. The first COP event took place in March 1995 in Germany's Berlin with its secretariat in Bonn.
