ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, November 2. UAE's Dragon Oil has begun implementing artificial intelligence (AI) for exploration, data processing, and analyzing reservoir properties in Turkmenistan’s oil fields, said Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan, Managing Director of Exploration & Production and CEO of Dragon Oil, Trend reports via SNG.Today.

According to the information, some of these technologies, such as 3D seismic exploration, have already been implemented on the Cheleken block and neighboring Block 19.

Over the course of more than 30 years of collaboration, Dragon Oil’s contributions have led to the production and development of approximately 450 million barrels of oil in Turkmenistan, a testament to the long-term partnership between the company and the country.

This ongoing partnership and focus on technological innovation continue to position Dragon Oil as a key player in Turkmenistan’s energy sector.

Moreover, Dragon Oil CEO expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for a productive meeting held in August 2024 with Dragon Oil Chairman Saeed Al Tayer. During the meeting, both sides discussed further development of Dragon Oil’s relationship with Turkmenistan, particularly through joint projects with Turkmennbit State Concern focused on enhanced oil recovery. The company is keen on deepening its cooperation with the Turkmen government and sees great potential for future collaborations.

With more than 71 billion tons of oil equivalent in hydrocarbon resources, including over 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, Turkmenistan ranks among the top four countries in proven natural gas reserves globally, alongside Russia, Iran, and Qatar. These resources position the country as a major player in the Asian energy market.
