BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 28

By Fidan Babayeva – Trend:

Azerbaijan plans to build and commission new three border crossing points to accelerate trade operations with neighboring countries in 2020, Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC) told Trend.

According to the committee, customs infrastructure facilities are to be constructed on the border with Georgia, Russia and Iran.

In 2019, the construction of new border crossing points began in both the northern and southern directions, and these works continue, SCC added.

In January 2020, 5,906 cars worth over $60.9 million were imported into the country through border crossing points of Azerbaijan.

The goal of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan is to protect the sovereignty, economic and national security of Azerbaijan, as well as to improve the social well-being of the people by promoting international trade, ensuring security, minimizing the collection of customs payments and transferring them to the state budget, prevent fraud in the field of customs affairs and combat international terrorism.
