BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 19

By Ilkin Seyfaddini – Trend:

KNAUF Group of Companies intents to invest in setting-up production capacities and create jobs in Uzbekistan, a representative of KNAUF told Trend.

KNAUF occupies top position in the construction materials production market of Uzbekistan. High quality of the company's products ensure stable demand and, as a result, a constant income in Uzbekistan market, said the representative.

“In addition, geographical location of Uzbekistan allows the company to export to neighboring countries including Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, thus ensuring its presence in countries where KNAUF does not have its enterprises,” representative noted.

According to the representative, KNAUF Group of Companies in Uzbekistan is involved in production of dry gypsum mixes and drywall KNAUF sheets. The company has also launched a project of prefabricated modular houses in the country. The modules will be made of high-quality materials using KNAUF technologies (water-and fire-resistant aqua panels, TeploKnauf heat insulator, as well as AkustiKnauf sound-insulating board).

“KNAUF group of companies in Uzbekistan highly appreciates cooperation with Uzbekistan. In turn, the economic and social contribution of KNAUF is highly praised by the government of Uzbekistan,” said representative.

In 2017, one of KNAUF enterprises (JV “Bukharagips” JSC) was awarded as “Exemplary taxpayer of the year” from the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan, for high financial and economic indicators, and significant contribution to development of the national economy.

According to the representative, on August 29, 2018, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on rewarding Nikolaus Wilhelm Knauf (co-owner of Knauf) with the state Dustlik (friendship) Order. The presidential decree stated: “For active participation in development of construction materials production in our country, introduction of advanced, modern technologies in the industry and attraction of large foreign investments, great merits in strengthening comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany”.

“KNAUF has a stable position in Uzbekistan, and the Company’s intention is to keep up working: invest in setting-up production capacities, increase market share, and create jobs. In particular, a new KNAUF plant is being built in Ferghana and funds are being reinvested in gypsum welding production in Bukhara. The new facilities will boost the Company's profit in Uzbekistan,” representative stressed.

According to the representative, KNAUF has invested a total of $75 million in two Bukhara enterprises (KNAUF GYPSUM BUKHARA LLC FC, and JV “Bukharagips” JSC).

In addition, according to 2019-2020 Investment Program, the Company will reinvest 2.2 million euros in construction of the second gypsum plant and additional gypsum mixture line at Bukhara plant.
