Control at the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan prepares
proposals to the Government to obtain AZN 2mln for establishment of a
laboratory for quality control of food products, the Head of the State Service,
Khalig Mammadov, said on 22 August.
"We have already concluded agreements with the foreign companies for the
delivery of laboratory equipment," said Mammadov.
According to him, Baku Administration has already allocated a place for the laboratory in Yasamal district of the capital.
In November
2007 the State Service signed a memorandum with the Food-Veterinary Service of
Latvia on construction of a center in Azerbaijan which will be analogous to
Latvian National Diagnostic Food Veterinary. Latvian experts will hold
consultations for the Azerbaijani colleagues regarding work in the laboratory,
which corresponds to International standards.
Currently there is no laboratory In Azerbaijan, which corresponds to
International standards, and due to it, the State Service regularly faces
problems with conducting analysis of the quality of food products.
State Service for Consumer Market Control has laboratories in Baku, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Khachmaz, Jalilabad and Sheki.
