The population census will be held in Azerbaijan from Apr. 13 to 22. The preparation work is being completed, State Committee for Statistics Arif Valiyev said.
Currently, the personnel who will participate in the census is selected. Approximately 25,000 people who will be trained during February and March, will be involved into the process, Valiyev said.
The necessary funds had already been issued.
5.4 million manats were issued from 2009 state budget for this purpose. However,
the final amount of expenditure will be determined after completion of the
process.
Shamakha was selected the pilot region as a result of the census in 2008. The preference was given to Shamakha due to cities, villages, mountains and plains in its territory allowed to remove all difficulties.
The previous census was held in 1999 costs 2.5 million dollars, as then the population reached 7.9 million people. As for Jan. 1, 2009 the population in Azerbaijan is 8.73 million people. Out of 49 percent are men and 51 percent -women. 51.7 percent of the population is townspeople and 48.3 percent - live in rural.
The second reason for increase in costs is that the number of issues during the census would increase from 17 to 25-26.
On Jan. 24, the official exchange rate is 0.8054 manat to $1.
