In 2008, 1,800 small
state enterprises and outlets were privatized in Azerbaijan, ten joint-stock
companies were established on the basis of medium and large state enterprises,
State Committee on State Property Management chairman Karam Hasanov said at an expanded
board meeting on the 2008 outcomes. A total of 1,677 small enterprises and outlets
were privatized in 2003, 1,954 in 2004, 2,463 in 2005, and 3,063 in 2006.
Last year, 125 joint-stock companies were privatized as a result of 60 auctions,
as well as some 800 land lots under enterprises and objects, said Hasanov.
The State Committee issued roughly 2,700 certificates on selling state property
to legal entities and individuals and on acquisition of ownership. During the
reporting period, about 2,700 technical passports were issued to companies and outlets,
he said.
