On Feb. 1, there were 44,468 officially registered unemployed, of whom 46.7 per cent were women, the State Committee on Statistics reported. In January the number of unemployed fell by 0.03 per cent, while last year's - at 11.95 percent.
There are a total of 4. 058 million employed in Azerbaijan, of which 1. 407 million work for a wage.
A total of 12.5 percent of employees account for industry, 3.5 percent for construction; 3.1 percent - agriculture, forestry and fishing, 38.1 percent - education; 0.7 percent - retail and wholesale; 14.9 percent - health; 8.9 percent - transport, communication; 8 percent - public utility, social and personal service spheres; 5.3 percent - property and renting; 4.7 percent - state governing and defence and 0.3 percent- in other spheres.
In January, the number of foreigners occupied in the economy hit 5,100, out of which 1,500 - in the industry, 1,300 - construction, 1,000 - real property operations; 0,600 - in trade.
The average dole is 137.9 manat.
On Feb. 21, the official exchange rate is 0.8062 manat to $1.
