The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry reconstructs the former Motodrom square for a new bus stop in the newly opened bus station in Baku, Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said in Baku on Feb. 23.
"Currently, there is no a platform. We reconstruct and pave with asphalt the platform. We plan to open a new bus stop," Mammadov said.
The main reason for which the bus station was removed is to decrease traffic tension in the capital. Presently, the station locates at a major road junction.
All conditions for leisure and convenience of passengers have been created in the new bus station. A hotel and 1,500 shopping centers are also built in the station. Construction of the bus was launched in 2004. The daily capacity of the station is 800-900 buses. The station can serve up to 20,000 passengers daily. There is a car park for 1,100 vehicles..
