This year, the Azerbaijani State Caspian Sea Shipping Company will transport over 13 million tons of cargo, President Aydin Bashirov said on Feb. 26. The company transported 11.9 million tons in 2008.
Oil and oil-related products will add roughly 70 percent to the total transportation volume, Bashirov said. The company plans to increase revenues by 15 percent this year by shipping via the Caspian Sea, he added.
The company is a large shipping enterprise. Its activities are transporting goods, predominantly oil and petroleum products, on the Caspian, Black, Mediterranean and Marmora seas.
The company's vessels transport foreign cargo to Europe, the Middle East and northern Africa via the Black and Azov seas.
