In January - April 2009 the amount of industrial production in Azerbaijan composed AZN 5.58 million, which is 0.5% more than the same period of 2008, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported.
The amount of production in the extractive industry increased 1.3% to AZN 3.83 million (68.7% of the gross industrial production), but the growth rate in the processing industry declined 6.9% to AZN 1.27 billion (22.8%), and in power engineering, gas and water sectors - AZN 473.7mln, an increase of 4.8% (8.5%).
The growth in the oil production was 0.9%, in gas production - 0.9%, but 10.2% reduction was recorded in oil refining.
The specific weight of the industrial production and services in the private sector made up 74.5% (AZN 4.15 million). Growth in the private sector was 2%, but 3.6% reduction was recorded in the public sector.
