Deflation in Azerbaijan exceeds 3 percent in seven months

According to the data provided by the Center for Economic Studies NGO, the level of deflation observed in Azerbaijan was 3.01 percent over seven months for the first time in the last decade.

During the reported period, mostly prices of food products reduced - 5.28 percent, prices of non-food products fell 3.96 percent, while tariffs for services increased by 4.4 percent.

Compared with the same period of last year, the July index of consumer prices in the country decreased 3.16 percent. Annual deflation in food products was 7.17 percent, non-food - 2.54 percent. Tariffs for services over the last year increased 7.28 percent.

The consumer price index in Azerbaijan in July rose 0.59 percent. In Baku inflation was 0.47 percent, in the regions - 0.71 percent.

During July, 0.16 percent deflation was recorded in non-food products. In July, the food prices fell 0.86 percent, while tariffs for services rose 4.45 percent. Experts explain such a rise in the cost of tariff through the two times increase of the cost of gas sold to population.
