The Azerbaijani Taxes Ministry launches the implementation of three electronic projects in the tax service, Deputy Taxes Minister Natig Amirov said today

"After the introduction of the automated tax information system AVIS in 2006, the system was constantly updated with new services. Three new projects will be implemented within this system - paperwork in an online mode, the introduction of electronic invoices and devices for electronic data transmission into cash registers from the distance," Amirov said

According to Amirov, paperwork in an online mode, which is to be applied in 2010, will save taxpayers' time and finance, providing a number of documents, requests and proposals to the tax authorities in the electronic form

"We initiated the use of electronic invoices in order to eliminate technical errors and save time of the taxpayers," he added

"Roughly, 20 banks have integrated into the system, and we expect to increase the number of banks in the future," Amirov said

This project also has important ecological significance, because about two million paper invoices is used each year, which means cutting down 2.5 hectares of forest. In addition, the Finance Ministry involved 100 employees, who can now be redirected to other areas during the process of issuing invoices, according to Amirov.

It will save time and expense of taxpayers. According to the ministry's calculations, in 2009, taxpayers spent about 20 million manat in connection with the use of paper invoices

According to Amirov, units' implementation project on electronic data transfer from the distance to the cash registers will allow quickly and effectively identify commercial facilities and services that do not stamp checks while purchasing goods and services.
