The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers approved the rules for state registration of ships in the country, the cabinet reported.
The Azerbaijani State Maritime Administration conducts state registration of vessels (except small and military) in the state ship registry and bareboat charter registry.
Establishment and maintenance, changes and amendments as well as the release of information from the state ships registry and the bareboat charter registry is carried out in accordance with the rules of the official registries of movable property, their establishment and maintenance.
The initial registration of a vessel shall be held within one month after its launching, as well as a deal on the ship and its arrival at the port of Azerbaijan.
The term of the right to seal under the Azerbaijani flag should be suspended during the term of valid bareboat charter contract for registration of the ship sealing under the Azerbaijani flag in a bareboat charter registry of a foreign state. To this end, excerpt should be brought from the ship's registry and a certificate on the right to seal under the Azerbaijani flag should be returned to Azerbaijan.
If the relevant documents submitted for the sate registration do not correspond to the requirements, as well as form and content to the legislation's requirements, in case of submission of an application for state registration by a not eligible person, as well as in the case of ship's non-compliance with the requirements of international conventions acceded by Azerbaijan, the state registration may be refused.
Exclusion of ships from the ships registry and bareboat charter registry can be done in the following cases: on the basis of statements of the ship-owner, the destruction of the vessel or its disappearance without a trace, the destruction of the ship in terms of design, quality loss of the vessel as a result of construction or any other changes and in loss of the right to seal under the Azerbaijani flag, as well as by the court' decision.
