GDP growth rate in Azerbaijan reaches 4 percent

During January-May 2010, Azerbaijan's GDP grew by 4.3 percent and reached 16.5 billion manat, the State Statistics Committee said. GDP per capita amounted to 1858.1 manat ($2312.8), an increase of 3.8 percent.

During January-May 2010, Azerbaijan's GDP grew by 4.3 percent and reached 16.5 billion manat, the State Statistics Committee said. GDP per capita amounted to 1858.1 manat ($2312.8), an increase of 3.8 percent.

Some 3.5 per cent increase in added value was observed in the oil-gas sector of the economy.

A six per cent of added value has been made at the expense of the net taxes on production and imports.

During January-May of 2010, 58.7 percent of total GDP fell to industry, agriculture, hunting and forestry -2.1, or 1.8 percent of the GDP; construction - 7.2; transport - 6,1 percent; communication and post service - 1,7 percent; wholesale and retail trade, automobile field, domestic products and repairing personal-use items - 6.6 percent; hotels and domestic sectors -1.1 percent; social and other services - 10.5  percent.

June 17, the official exchange rate is 0.8038 manat to $1.
