Azerbaijan, Baku, July 22 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /
Due to frequent blasts on the railway in Dagestan, fewer and fewer tickets are being sold from Azerbaijan to Russia, Azerbaijan Railways Chief Engineer Gurban Nazirov told Trend July 22. Tickets sales have dropped by 20-30 percent, he said.
The blasts have affected both passenger and cargo transportation, Nazirov said.
However, he also noted a 30-40-percent increase in domestic passenger traffic due to university entrance exams in Azerbaijan.
Blasts along the railway in Dagestan have become more frequent in recent months. The last explosion took place July 15. The blasts have led to delayed arrivals.
Azerbaijan Railways travels through Dagestan on route to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov, Tyumen, Kiev, Kharkov and other cities.
