Azerbaijan, Baku, July 27 / Trend, H. Veliyev /

Two tons of salt reserves, taken from the Masazir salt lake, was revealed as a result of monitoring held in "Azeri Shah" LTD, located in the Saray settlement of Absheron Peninsula, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Metrology and Patents said.

It was found that, despite the lack of the necessary conditions for the production of iodized salt, the company processed and packed the raw materials delivered to the enterprise.

In accordance with the requirements of the standard, the manufacturer should carry out control over the amount of the mass of insoluble residue and amount of iodine every seven hours in the production of iodized salt.

Also, the manufacturer should control the amount of the mass of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfate ions from the iron oxide (FeO) and sodium chloride (NaCl) at least once within the seven days.

Despite the lack of laboratories to analyse the manufactured product, the product was packaged and offered for sale. "Azeri Shah" LTD on the packaging indicated shelf life of the product for one year, whereas under the current standard for iodized salt AZS 280-2007 the shelf life is nine months. Also the regulatory documents, that are no longer valid - Az 00900003-17-2003, were used in labeling of products.

The company is under investigation.
