As of Aug. 1, there were 39,700 unemployed people, including 43.5 percent - women in Azerbaijan, the State Statistical Committee reported. Five unemployed claim for one vacancy in the country.
During the reported period, the economically active people in Azerbaijan made up 4,338,900 including 1,358,400 people as hired workers.
Of the hired employees involved in the production spheres: 19.4 percent in industry, 4.7 percent in construction, 2.7 percent in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 26 percent in education, 20.2 percent in wholesale and retail trade, repair of automobiles, home wares and personal things, 10.1 percent in health and social services, 5.6 percent in transport and communications, 1.5 percent in communal, social and personal services, 0.6 percent in operations with real estate and rent, 3.9 percent in state government and defense, and 0.9 percent in other spheres.
In January to June, a total of 7,091foreign workers were registered at the enterprises and organizations of the country. Of them, 2, 272were involved in industry, 2, 620 in construction, 31 in operations with real estate and rent, 309 in wholesale and retail trade, 339 in education, 168- communication, 102- transportation and 176 in other fields
Average unemployment benefit is 154.4 manat in Jan.-July.
The official exchange rate is 0.8038 manat to $1 Aug. 16.
