The United States sees Georgia as a strategic partner and ally, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Europe and Eurasia Juan Verde said today in Tbilisi.

"The U.S. government supports Georgia's independence and its economic development," he said. "We are trying to help increase investor confidence in Georgia."

Verde added that Georgia continues its efforts at economic liberalization.

"We want cooperation with Georgia to be mutually beneficial," he said. "We will provide U.S. business circles with information on Georgia's trade and investment potential. The United States is ready to help Georgia with technical programs. We will work with the Georgian government and the private sector. We believe that the government will build a country with a strong future. We hope that we will all be proud of this future."
