Surplus in Azerbaijani trade turnover with foreign countries exceeds $14 billion

Azerbaijan imported goods worth $4.544 billion from foreign countries (excluding CIS countries) in 2010, which accounts for 68.86 percent of the country’s total imports, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee reported.

Azerbaijan imported goods worth $4.544 billion from foreign countries (excluding CIS countries) in 2010, which accounts for 68.86 percent of the country's total imports, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee reported.

Azerbaijan imported machinery and mechanical installations (26.19 percent of total imports), ground transport vehicles (9.34 percent), electrical machinery and equipment and their spare parts (9.59 percent), ferrous metal products (8.21 per cent), and sugar and confectionery products (3.99 percent) from these countries.

Azerbaijan exported goods worth 19.34 billion (90.69 percent of total exports) to these states.

The range of exported products includes mineral fuels, oil products, bitumen minerals (97.87 percent of total exports), ferrous metals (0.4 percent), natural and artificial pearls, precious stones and not valuable stones, precious metals, as well as simple metals, coated with precious metals and jewelry and coins (0.43 percent), polymeric materials (0.34 percent), and sugar and confectionery products (0.13 percent).

Over $14.796 billion went to the import and export operations.
