Investments in Azerbaijan's transport sector increased by almost 46 times

The volume of investments in Azerbaijan's transport sector exceeded nine billion manat between 1998 and 2010, the State Statistics Committee's report on the construction sector says.

The volume of investments in Azerbaijan's transport sector exceeded nine billion manat between 1998 and 2010, the State Statistics Committee's report on the construction sector says.
If investments in the transport sector in 1998 amounted to about 53 million manat with a specific weight of 4.8 percent of total investments in the country's economy, in 2010 this figure exceeded 2.43 billion manat (24.6 percent).
Most of the investments last year were directed to warehousing and auxiliary transport activity - about 1.7 billion manat. Ground and pipeline transport development ate up about 511.1 million manat in investments.
Last year, approximately 214.1 million manat were invested in the development of air transport, 163 million manat in public transport (buses, subways and taxis), and 3.37 million manat went to railroad transport.
The official exchange rate is 0.7867 manat to $1 on July 1.
