Ashgabat has hosted a workshop on Turkmenistan's national strategy on climate change organized by the Foreign Ministry and UNDP, the Neutral Turkmenistan paper reported.
The phases of preparing the strategy were discussed and an interdepartmental working group was established to develop its core directions.
The key report at the workshop says that the "International Adaptation Fund" first approved a draft proposal with a budget of $3 million for Turkmenistan to improve water management in a changing climate.
The workshop was attended by representatives of ministries and departments, parliament, and scientists.
Turkmenistan joined some of the most important UN conventions, including the Framework Convention on Climate Change.
