The discussion of a bill allowing foreigners to buy land in Turkey in the parliament, will begin next month, Adviser to the Minister of Economics Alparslan Uymaz told Trend on Friday.

"The main stage of discussions and agreements has already passed. Legal Committee of Parliament approved the bill on Wednesday, the next step - a discussion in the Parliament" Uymaz said.

The adviser to the Minister noted that according to the bill foreigners can not buy more than 10 percent of the total area of land in each province in the country, and not more than 30 hectares on a single buyer.

At the same time, he noted that the figures are subject to change during the discussions in the Parliament.

"It is possible that during the discussion of the bill in parliament, the maximum property land area allowed for the purchase can be doubled," Uymaz said.

In addition, he said, the bill prohibits any sale and purchase of areas belonging to military installations, or located near these facilities.

If this law ultimately be adopted by Parliament, all foreign nationals, including citizens of Azerbaijan, will be able to acquire land in property in Turkey.

Earlier only citizens of countries in which Turkish citizens can buy land could buy property in Turkey.
