Kyrgyzstan interested in attracting investments from UAE

Prospects for economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UAE were discussed at a meeting bewteen Kyrgyz Economy and Antimonopoly Policy Minister Temir Sariyev and UAE Foreign Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna Khalid Sultan al Qasimi, the Kyrgyz ministry said on Thursday.

The meeting was held within the Second Annual Investment Forum in Dubai.

Colleagues discussed prospects of bilateral relations.

According to Sariyev, there is a huge potential for trade and economic relations between the two countries given that Dubai is becoming a world trade and financial center, where huge financial flows, interested in real projects, are concentrated.

Kyrgyzstan is an open country with low taxes, cheap labor and low prices for electricity and serves as the country of investment opportunities for the Arab capital, and in particular the capital of the UAE, Sariyev said.

Sariyev suggested the participation of the UAE capital in projects of public-private partnership and in the banking sector of Kyrgyzstan through the Islamic financing.

He briefed the UAE minister about main sectoral comparative advantages of Kyrgyzstan, which has a rich potential in halal industry at the expense of ecologically clean products, which is of great importance for the development of bilateral relations.

Also during the meeting the sides discussed the draft agreements on avoidance of double taxation, promotion and protection of investments, economic cooperation between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and the UAE, which will lay the basis for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

In turn, the UAE Foreign Trade Minister agreed with Sariyev's opinion and stressed that the agreements will give even greater impetus to the development of bilateral economic relations, and expressed the hope that opening of new direct flights "Flydubai" will contribute to arrival of more and more businessmen and tourists from the UAE to Kyrgyzstan.
