Business registration index ups in Georgia in May

In May, the number of registered business entities in Georgia amounted to 4,668 units, the Georgian Statistics Agency told Trend today.

According to the information, about 97.7 percent of them were business entities (individual entrepreneur, joint stock company, limited liability company, special partnership, a cooperative, a branch of a foreign business legal entity), 2.3 per cent - non-entrepreneurial legal entities (non-entrepreneurial legal entity, a branch of a foreign non-entrepreneurial legal entity, legal entity of public law).

In May, a monthly business registration index increased and hit $ 1.067 (in December 2010 = 100).

The growth was fixed in May this year compared to May 2011 (16.3 percent) and the previous month (14.3 percent).

The number of registered business entities increased by 16.6 percent, while the number of non-entrepreneurial entities - by 3.9 percent in May 2012 compared to the same period of last year.

A similar trend was fixed compared to the previous month. In May the number of registered business entities increased by 23.4 percent, and non-entrepreneurial entities - by 33.8 percent.

During this same period, a monthly business registration index on entrepreneurial and non- entrepreneurial was 1.073 and 0.843 (in December 2010 = 100).

Most entities in May 2012 were registered as individual entrepreneurs (3,166 units or 67.8 percent of total number of registered entities) and companies (1,380 units or 29.6 percent of the total number of registered entities). During the reporting period, about 105 non-entrepreneurial legal entities and 10 branches of foreign business legal entities, three cooperatives, two joint-stock companies and two foreign branches of non-entrepreneurial legal entity were registered.
