Turkmenistan commissions cotton spinning mill

The second stage of a cotton spinning mill built by Cotam Enterprises has been commissioned in the city of Abadan near the Turkmen capital, the Turkmen State News agency reported.

At the opening ceremony, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said about $80 million was spent to build and equip the facility. Over 600 new jobs have been created.

The new mill is designed for production of combed yarn from predominantly fine-fiber cotton varieties.

The annual capacity of the new enterprise is 4,872 tons of combed yarn and 275 tons of ring-spun yarn. The new shop is equipped with facilities of Italian firms Marzoli Savio and German company Truetzschler.

The annual volume of products produced by this mill, in aggregate terms, will be about $22.7 million. In this case, more than half the products produced at the plant will be exported.

The production process is fully automated, quality control by the Swiss company Uster is applied at all stages of the technological chain.

Cotton production is sold through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
