Iran to set up 27 border terminals to ease trade

Iran will set up 27 terminals at border areas to ease land transportation, official at the Iranian Land Transportation Organization Reza Nafisi said.

Reza Nafisi told the IRNA News Agency that 10 border terminals have already been established and 17 other terminals will be set up by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2013).

A minimum 200 billion rials ($16.3 million) is required to establish each of the terminals, he noted.

The total value of Iran's imports and exports during the first five months of the current Iranian year, which began on March 20, amounted to $37.6 billion, the Customs Administration head Abbas Memarnejad announced on Monday.

Iran exported around 30 million tons of non-oil goods, worth $15.7 billion, and imported some 15.7 million tons of goods, worth around $21.9 billion in the five-month period of time, Abbas Memarnejad told the Fars News Agency.

The official added that Iran exported non-oil goods worth around $43.7 billion in the past calendar year and imported goods worth some $61.8 billion, to hit the unprecedented mark of $105 billion in annual trade.
