Iran, Tajikistan sign free trade zone agreement

Iranian and Tajik free trade zones signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday.

The MoU was signed at the closing day of the exclusive exhibition on Iran's free zones which was held in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe, the ILNA News Agency reported.

The event aims to give a boost to economic, industrial and cultural ties between the two countries.

Investments and joint venture opportunities in Iran's free zones and special economic zones, meeting needs of Tajikistan and other Central Asian nations, were presented to visitors in the Persian, English, and Russian languages.

The exhibitions on books, handicrafts and traditional arts were also held.

Iran's and Tajikistan's trade turnover last year exceeded $500 million, Tehran's ambassador to Dushanbe, Ali Asghar Sherdoost, said.
