The bus ticket prices increased in Iran due to the high costs of transportation, Deputy Roads & Urban Development Minister Shahriar Affandizadeh announced on Monday.
"Considering the inflation rate and the hike in the price of spare parts, engine oil and tires, an increase in the prices of long distance bus tickets is also inevitable," Affandizadeh said.
This is the second rise in Iran's bus tickets this year, the ILNA News Agency reported.
The prices were increased by 10 percent in July.
It was also announced in November that the Iranian airlines would increase ticket prices for domestic flights by 50 percent.
The director of the Civil Aviation Organization Hamid Pahlavani said told ISNA on November 10 that different factors, including foreign currency prices, are considered to set the ticket prices.
"If the present fuel price of 2000 rials is maintained, the prices will be increased by maximum 50 percent," he noted.
Seyed Abdolreza Mousavi, who heads the Association of Iranian Airlines, has said that until late June of last year, aviation fuel cost 1000 rials and since then it has been 2000 rials (Iran's official exchange rate is 12,260 rials to the dollar).
