Iran's imports decrease by more than 7 percent

Iran's imports of goods have decreased by 7.94 percent in value during the first seven months of the current Iranian year, IRNA reported.

Iran imported some 23,544 tons of goods (15,45 percent less than during last year's period), equal to $31,721 million in value (7.94 percent increase than during last year's period).

UAE, China, Turkey, Switzerland, South Korea accounted to 58.57 percent of all Iranian imports.

Speaking of specific imports, Iran imported some 708,000 tons of rice (worth $681 million), which is 4.5 percent less than of the same period last year. Value wise, the country saw a 7.87 percent increase since last year's 7-month period.

The country also imported some 6,616 tons of cigarettes (worth $72,463), which is a 113.12 percent increase by weight, and about 42.7 percent increase in value.

Clothes wise, Iran imported 1,142 tons of clothes (worth $12,975), which is a 7.18 percent increase in value, and 16.88 percent increase in weight, compared to last year's 7-month period.

The Islamic Republic also imported sedan cars from abroad, each costing approximately $22,358, which is a 6.06 percent increase in amount, compared to the 7-month period of last year.
