The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia may reach $3 billion for 2012, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin said during a routine meeting with Azerbaijani journalists.
At the meeting, the ambassador thanked the Azerbaijani press for its attention to Russia.
Dorokhin appreciated the role of the media in strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, for the countries that have reached the level of strategic partnership.
"Political life is being intensified in Russia," he said. "Civil society is being developed. Social achievements that have been recently attained are being preserved. All of this is reflected in the Azerbaijani press."
Dorokhin said he does not always agree with the Azerbaijani media.
"But we accept the principle of freedom of speech and the press and refer to reports with which we disagree calmly, the big thing is to respect the facts," he said.
Later Dorokhin delivered a diploma for the active coverage of bilateral cooperation to the Inter-State TV and Radio Company "Mir".
