Azerbaijan Railways JSC will receive the remainder of carriages sent for overhaul in Ukraine by May 2013, company spokesperson Nadir Azmammadov told Trend.
According to him, out of 50 carriages transferred to Ukraine for overhaul, 20 have already arrived in Baku. Another 10 carriages will arrive in the capital in March.
"It is planned to get the remaining carriages by May," Azmammadov said.
The issue of transfer of 30 carriages for overhaul to the Voronezh Car Repair Plant is in talks, Azmammadov said .
50 carriages were sent to Ukraine for factory repair due to the lack of relevant technology for overhaul of passenger carriages in Azerbaijan.
As mentioned by spokesperson of the company, the issue of construction of plant (or plants) on overhaul of passenger and freight carriages in Azerbaijan is currently under consideration and discussion.
"This issue is of current interest and is under discussion," Azmammadov said.
As previously said by the deputy head of the company Gurban Nazirov, Azerbaijan Railways plans to buy 100 new passenger carriages within renovation of rolling stock. Purchase of 50 locomotives for freight transport and 12 locomotives for passenger transport is also expected.
