The Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry together with the World Tourism Organisation have worked out the draft of a special programme to develop tourism in the northern regions of the country, Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev told media today.

"The biggest state project of expanding the tourism potential in the country's regions today is the tourism development programme in Guba, Khachmaz and Shabran," he said. "We are considering it now and will submit a report to the government."

He said that there were no elementary conditions for tourists in the Azerbaijani regions 10 years ago. Today each region has a normal hotel and necessary services.

"These conditions have been created in each region," Garayev said.

He said that according to the tasks of determining the priorities for developing the regions, the ministry defined that there are seven regions in Azerbaijan where tourism is one of the priorities.
