The opening of direct flights between Budapest and Baku is an indicator of the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development Niyazi Safarov said at the meeting with the Hungarian delegation on Thursday.

According to him, this route will allow the expansion of business relations and an increase of passenger traffic between the two countries, and will have a positive impact on trade and economic relations.

According to the Ambassador of Hungary to Azerbaijan Zsolt Csutora, the first flight will be held on June 17 this year, and the airplane will return back to Budapest on June 18. The flight will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. The sale of tickets starts today.

"The opening of the new track will have a positive impact on the already good relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary, and will allow the citizens of the two countries to reach each other in 3.5 hours," Csutora said.

The flights will be carried out by Hungarian Wizz Air on A320 aircraft. This airline operates flights on more than 270 routes, and this year is going to increase this figure to 300. The fleet of the company consists of 40 airplanes, and it is planned to increase this figure to 45 in 2013.
