Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Sept. 16 / Trend, H. Hasanov /

The Turkmen chemical industrial sector, which produces nitric and phosphorus fertilizers, sodium sulfate, iodide-bromine, is mainly export-oriented, the Turkmen ministry of economy and development said today.

According to the report, the tasks set for this sector will increase the share of the processing industry in Turkmenistan's total gross domestic product (GDP) and increase foreign exchange reserves due to the export of finished products.

According to state plans, the production of mineral fertilizers will increase by more than three times, the production of iodine - by 2.5 times in Turkmenistan in 2016 compared to 2012.

Carbamide production plants are planned to be commissioned in Turkmenistan's Mary region through natural gas processing and then in the Balkan region.

The largest ore mining and processing complex for the production of potash fertilizers with a capacity of 1.4 million tons per year in Central Asia will be built in Lebap region at Garlyk field.

Its capacity will be brought to 4-4.5 million tons per year in the future.

Another direction of import substitution is to build a plant for the production of caustic soda, chlorine and chlorinated products in Balkan region. A valuable source of chemical raw materials in the country is the underground iodine bromine water.

It is planned to increase volumes of commodity products in Turkmen industry in the future by using new deposits in the industrial production and more efficient use of all components contained in these waters for the production of iodine and bromo derivatives.
