Iran has harvested some 840,000 tons of sea food during the last solar year which ended on March 21, deputy head of Iran's Fisheries Organization, Ali Asghar Mojahedi said, Iranian Ettelaat newspaper reported.
The figure is a new record, he remarked.
According to the report, Iran harvested some 460,000, 40,000 and 340,000 tons of sea foods from the Oman Sea, Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea and aquaculture farms respectively.
Mojahedi went on to note that, Iran exported $262 millions worth of sea foods during the last solar year.
The exported sea foods` weight reached 64,000 tons in the period, he added.
Iran has lost EU sea foods markets, Mojahedi said, adding that, Southeast Asian countries are the main market of Iran's sea food exports.
Iraq is also a good market for Iran's hydrothermal fish, he underlined.
Iranian Fishery exports stood at $200 million at the year ended in March 2012.
Iran harvested 663,000 tons of sea foods during the year that ended in March 2011, and 735,000 tons at the year ending in March 2012.
About 200,000 individuals are currently working in Iran's fisheries.
