By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Astana International Airport increased passenger traffic by 15 percent in 2013 compared to 2012 to 2,609,431 passengers, the airport press-service reported this week.
The total volume of passenger traffic on domestic routes increased by 9 percent to1,630,666 passengers in 2013. The most popular domestic routes were to Almaty, Shymkent and Atyrau.
On international routes, the total volume of passenger traffic increased by 21 percent to 978,765 passengers. The most popular destinations were Abu Dhabi and Istanbul.
Frequency of existing flights increased and new routes to London, Krasnoyarsk and Bangkok were launched in 2013. Moreover the charter tourism program to Goa (India) and Rhodes (Greece) was opened.
The Astana Airport served 20, 272 flights in 2013 (16 percent increase compared to 2012). Delay of flights decreased by one percent in this period.
Airport quality safety level services meet the requirements of ICAO International Standards, the airport press-service said.
