Five banks control more than a half of Almaty's banking infrastructure, the Ranking.kz. analytical service said.
People's Bank (Halyk Bank) is in the lead in branch network volume. Kazkommertsbank and Centre Credit rank second place.
Almaty concentrates 39 percent of consumer loans (984.9 billion tenge) and a half of retail deposits (2.005 billion).
Several large banks prefer to focus work of the branch network on the southern capital, the analysts said.
Kazkommertsbank concentrated almost 27 percent of its network in Almaty (46 offices), Kaspi - 22 percent (42 offices), the Savings Bank - 22 percent (36 offices). For comparison, the People's Bank concentrated a total of 11 percent of its branch network in Almaty(59 offices).
