By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

The light-emitting diode (LED) mass production can be deployed on the basis of the Ganja aluminum plant and the Sumgait solar panel plant, the Research Center for High Technology under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies told Trend Oct. 24.

The center's proposals about the possibility of deploying LED production at the facilities of these companies were submitted to the government.

"The issues of organizing the LED production were discussed at a high level," the center said. "The need of developing new technologies, as well as introducing these goods under the Azerbaijani brand was stressed."

Currently, a LED production process in the country is fully mastered. First of all, LED technologies are planned to be used in street lighting in the capital. LED lighting systems are planned to be used for decorative and general lighting of architectural buildings, streets, parks and main roads.

The project is commercial. After meeting the needs of the republic, the technology is planned to be delivered to the international markets.

Solid-state lighting is energy efficient and an environmentally friendly method. As opposed to the ordinary incandescent bulbs, it allows saving energy consumption up to 80 percent.
