Turkmenistan’s foreign trade turnover increases

Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover increased by almost six percent for eight months in 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, an analytical article of Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper says.

Turkmenistan has recently cooperated in a trade and economic area with more than 100 countries worldwide.

Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover increased by 2.7 times and amounted to about $35 billion in 2013 compared to 2007, according to the article.

The structure of Turkmenistan's foreign trade is being improved. This year, the export growth rate (about eight percent) exceeds the import growth rate (3.3 percent).

The black ink of Turkmenistan's foreign trade balance remains high. This positively affects the balance of payments, the article says.

Turkmenistan's main priority is a gradual transition from the category of raw material exporting countries into the category of the countries producing and exporting high-tech goods.

Turkmenistan stimulates the imports of advanced technologies, equipment and machines by using different methods.

Turkmenistan is rich in natural gas. The cotton and grain export volumes are stocked. The economy is diversified. Moreover, the privatization is underway in such areas as construction, communication and services.
