Kazakhstan’s loan market focusing on small business

Kazakhstan's loan market is focusing on the small business, Ranking.kz analytical service of the country said.

"The banks have increased the volume of loans to small companies by 3.4 percent and brought it to 1.88 trillion tenge (185.95 tenge = $1) in a month," said the analytical service.

In this regard, the highest growth was recorded in the provinces of Mangistau - 26.6 percent and Almaty - 21.7 percent.

The loan portfolio as of April 2015 reached 12.1 trillion tenge of which 15.5 percent accounted for the loans to the small business. The small business accounted for only 12 percent of the loan portfolio of second-tier banks a year ago.

The highest growth rates of lending to the small enterprises in April were recorded in the provinces of Mangistau (26.6-percent increase - 35.1 billion tenge) and Almaty (21.7-percent - 19.7 billion tenge). The average monthly growth of loans to the small business in Kazakhstan totaled 3.4 percent.
