Kazakhstan’s electricity output dropped by 1.2 percent to 53.72 billion KWh in January-July 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015

Kazakhstan’s electricity output dropped by 1.2 percent to 53.72 billion KWh in January-July 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015, Kazakh Statistics Committee said.

Coal production, including coal concentrate, in Kazakhstan dropped by 6 percent – to 52.15 million tons during the period.

Only 0.8 percent of electricity is being generated from renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan.

Renewable energy sources in the country can give more than 1 trillion kWh of electricity a year, while the current demand for electricity stands at 91 billion kWh.

Kazakhstan plans to increase share of the electricity generated from renewable sources to 3 percent in 2020 and 10 percent in 2030.
