Investments worth $200 billion have been made in Turkey over the last 15 years, a source in the country’s Investment Support and Promotion Agency (ISPAT) told Trend.

The largest volume of these investments accounted for the European countries.

The source noted that the biggest part of foreign investment during this period was channeled to the country's financial sector.

Investments from the Middle East and Asian countries were put mainly in the petrochemical and energy industries.

Turkey received foreign investments in the amount of $12.3 billion in 2016, according to ISPAT.

“Turkey intends to increase foreign investment up to $22 billion in 2017,” the source said.
