Kazakhstan continues construction within massive Nurly Zhol program

Kazakh government has used 313.7 billion tenge on the realization of Nurly Zhol state project during the 9 months of 2017, the Ministry of Economy of Kazakhstan said in a message.

Nurly Zhol is a $9 billion domestic economic stimulus plan to develop and modernize roads, railways, ports, IT infrastructure, and education and civil services in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The total amount of funds provided by the government for 2017 is 484.2 billion tenge, 65 percent of which have already been used for the intended purpose, said the Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov, during the meeting of the government.

The government allocated 259.8 billion tenge for 22 major road projects, and 150.4 billion (57 percent) of them have been used for the purpose, according to Suleimenov.

“The National Fund provided 71.7 billion tenge for the construction of 109 educational facilities (53 objects under reconstruction, 56 new facilities). We expect 76 of these objects to be constructed by the end of the current year,” Timur Suleimenov said.

He also added that the National Fund allocated 10 billion tenge to provide the entrepreneurship objects with the necessary infrastructure.

Four billion tenge from the total amount were used during 9 months of 2017, according to the reports of the local officials.

The official exchange rate for October 23 is 335.24 KZT/USD.
